How do I prepare for my new floorcovering installation?
  • The subfloor as well as the new flooring materials should be conditioned at a minimum temperature of 68 degrees. Electricity and water will be needed to perform the installation.
  • The removal and disposal of your old floor can take a considerable amount of time. If you prefer, you can save the expense of removal by having friends or family members help provide this service. We suggest that the removal be done a day in advance of the new floor installation to allow time for clean up and floor preparation. Otherwise, we would be happy to remove and dispose of your old flooring. Your salesperson can quote you a price.
  • All furniture should be removed from the room(s) to areas not being changed prior to the installer's arrival. In all cases, remove all lamps, plants, valuables, breakable items and bed linens from bedrooms. If these items are not removed prior to the installer's arrival, our company will not be liable for any damage that might occur directly or indirectly while handling your property.
  • Remember to leave any pets in a safe place away from the installation area.
  • Please disconnect appliances in kitchens and laundry areas and toilets in bathrooms. We recommend, for your safety, that a plumber or any other knowledgeable professional disconnect and reconnect these appliances. At your request, arrangements can be made to move disconnected appliances. Our installers will remove your toilet if necessary, but by state law cannot reconnect it.
  • We are unable to remove or disconnect radiators. If it is necessary to remove radiators for a better installation, this service must be performed by you or a contractor of your choice.
  • Quarter round mouldings should always be removed before any installation can be made. In some instances, mop boards need to be removed. If in doubt, check with your salesperson. There will be a charge for specialty transition materials, wood, vinyl, etc.
  • When new carpet is installed there is a possibility that the doors may not swing free and clear. Our installers will remove the doors if necessary in order to install the flooring and will rehang them if possible. We will NOT be able to shave or cut them down due to lack of necessary equipment and expertise to accomplish this task.
